XGIMI debuts projector that doubles as ceiling light & Bluetooth speaker

Making its European debut at IFA Berlin, XGIMI has unveiled its new Magic Lamp, demonstrating its ceiling-mounted full HD streaming projector with a built-in sound system that doubles as an LED light.

The Magic Lamp features a full HD DLP projection unit which projects 1,200 ANSI lumens and displays images up 120” diagonally from 1.86m away. A 32-degree axis shift allows users to raise or lower the image to the required height.

As the projector is ceiling mounted, there is much less risk of someone casting shadows over the image.

A MediaTek Smart Display system-on-chip featuring a quad-core processor is built into the Magic Lamp, with Mali graphics and a dedicated AI engine. It also has 4GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage.

The Magic Lamp also provides audio to go with the projected images. Two 8W speakers plus a 12W subwoofer with sound by Harman Kardon is built into the Magic Lamp, with support for immersive Dolby Audio and DTS Virtual X too.

Doubling up as a ceiling light, the Magic Lamp uses 176 Lumileds LEDs behind a semi-transparent shade, and offers intelligent dimming as well as different colour temperature options that can be controlled via its app. It has flicker-free and low blue light certifications from TÜV Rheinland to make it easier on the eyes.

The Magic Lamp features a single USB 2.0 port, but the device is designed to stream entertainment over 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.1. This also means that it can double up as a Bluetooth speaker when not being used with the projector.
