Bang & Olufsen and LG launch BeoVision Eclipse OLED TV

The much-anticipated first offering from the recent partnership between Band & Olufsen and LG Electronics, the BeoVision Eclipse TV, has been unveiled by B&O.

Incorporating B&O’s trademark styling of slim glass, fabric and aluminium, the BeoVision Eclipse integrates a 450W 3-channel SoundCentre and LG’s OLED TV technology, renowned for delivering its pixel dimming control technology.

In addition to 4K video processing technology, the TV offers LG Electronics´ most recent webOS 3.5 platform. This allows users to access and customise content, devices and apps (from providers such as Spotify, Netflix and Amazon). It also provides Chromecast built-in, AirPlay and Bluetooth support for music.

“By merging LG Electronics’ OLED TV technology to the Bang & Olufsen experience, we have reached an even higher level and created the ultimate TV experience,” commented Stefan K. Persson, executive vice president at Bang & Olufsen Home. “That is why we have chosen the name 'Eclipse' – two outstanding objects meet and create something even more spectacular and beautiful.”

The Denmark-based manufacturer state that a motorised floor stand allows owners to make the TV move across the floor as if it were “floating” towards you at the push of a button, which can then be adjusted to suit any seating position in the room.

The TV is controlled with the BeoRemote One BT, allowing users to store access to a source, create a shortcut to content or devices – e.g. streaming services, personal content or a Blu-Ray player – by pushing ‘MyButton’ on the remote.

As well as support for internet radio and music streaming services, Eclipse can be paired with additional speakers via the integrated surround sound decoder – with the centre channel performance of the TV able to match any of the Bang & Olufsen BeoLab range.

The BeoVision Eclipse can be positioned on a motorised or manual wall bracket.

The BeoVision Eclipse will be released in 55-in (prices starting at £8,290) and 65-in (prices starting at £11,590) models in September.
