US-based audio company Marantz has entered the wireless speaker market with the new Marantz Horizon and its larger sibling, the Marantz Grand Horizon.
The Horizon and Grand Horizon are single speakers that deliver full-range sound, designed around a configuration of high-frequency and midrange drive units that radiate outwardly from a single central subwoofer.
Marantz Rise amplification provides the power core of each model, based around thermally efficient GaN FET technology to offer 310W of output in Horizon and 370W in Grand Horizon. Each Marantz Gravity drive unit employs neodymium magnets for accuracy and low distortion.
At the heart of Horizon is a 6.5’ subwoofer, complemented by two 1’ silk-dome tweeters and three 2’ full range drive units. Grand Horizon, as the larger speaker in the line-up, scales that to a 8’ subwoofer, three 1’ tweeters and four 3’ midrange drive units.
The acoustics can be optimised to suit different moods and music using the on-board Marantz Mirage DSP, accessible via the HEOS app. The Mirage digital signal processing allows for a customisable listening experience, with the option to select Sound Master mode for users to experience the sound of Horizon or Grand Horizon as Yoshinori Ogata, the Marantz sound master, intended it to be heard.
Both models have on-board proximity sensors, making them come to life with Marantz AuraControlT user interaction which combines 100 LEDs with proximity and ambient light sensors. The speakers can access music content from a range of supported streaming providers including Amazon Music, Deezer, Spotify and TIDAL, as well as Apple AirPlay2, Bluetooth and even physical connected sources with HDMI outputs.
The design pairs the brand’s circular porthole motif with careful lighting and trim materials to deliver an audio experience that aims to be seen, heard and felt. The Marantz Radiance 360-degree Eco Fibre, made from recycled ocean plastics, encases each model in a choice of three colours with embedded gold lurex elements. The finish is complemented by a natural colour-matched marble base.
For users who prefer alternative displays, Marantz also offers an American walnut tripod floor stand as an optional accessory alongside wall brackets.
