Manual and automated window shade supplier PowerShades has expanded its smart home offering with the launch of PowerShades Smart Lighting.
Introduced earlier this month at CEDIA 2024 in Denver, Smart Lighting is available in both Down Lighting and Flex RGBW Strip Lighting in assorted sizes, styles, colours and beam angles. Down Lighting has been designed to be versatile with smooth dimming response down to 1%.
PowerShades Smart Flex RGBW Strip Lighting can coordinate with automated shades according to the sun’s position, adjusting brightness and colour temperature throughout the day to compensate for sun colour and brightness.
The company has partnered with motor control company Converging Systems, incorporating their eNode controllers with drivers for all major control systems on the new Flex RGBW Strip Lighting.
Both products will be available through the Powerhouse Alliance, PowerShades’ distribution partner.
PowerShades CEO Ryan Chacon said: “We’ve been a fixture in the motorised shade market for years.
“Yet while we have enjoyed significant success… we believe that diversification is the key to long-term success. The addition of smart lighting is a perfect gateway into the broader smart home ecosystem, given the growing demand from consumers, as well as the ongoing requests from our dealers and distributors.
“Visitors to our CEDIA booth expressed excitement about our entry into the smart lighting arena and the ways our lighting and automated shades can interact.”
The numbers back up Chacon’s observation: smart lighting as a market is expected to experience a compound annual growth rate of 22.1% from 2023 to 2030, reaching $72.35 billion (USD) by 2030.
