Family-owned British audio company Ruark has announced the return of one of its original loudspeaker names and first ever music console.
The R610 Music Console and Sabre-R bookshelf speakers revive the 1970s stereo concept as a complete music system for the modern era, speaking to the rest of Ruark’s 100 Series line-up.
R610 Music Console
Hand-crafted cabinets, a RotoDial controller and custom high-fidelity drive units comprise the hi-fi system, designed to differ from competitors with the offer of increased simplicity.
Soft touch buttons, weighted control dial and matching Bluetooth remote are paired with a colour display confirming commands as well as highlighting album/station artwork.
A modern switch mode supply powers the music console, providing dedicated powerlines to the system’s motherboard and latest generation digital amplifiers. Burr-Brown DACs and a nominal output of 75 watts per channel provide controlled sound.
The R610 uses its CPU to decode quality audio streams, offering built-in Internet Radio, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Apple AirPlay and Google Cast. There is also the option to rediscover physical music formats with a phono pre-amp to connect a turntable and Ruark’s soon-to-be launched CD Drive which will connect via the USB socket on the rear of R610.
This CD Drive will also be compatible with R410 and R810.
Customers can purchase the R610 Music Console and Sabre-R bookshelf together as a complete system or individually, aided by R610’s HDMI ARC/eARC connection for integrative purposes.
Sabre-R Bookshelf speakers
The Sabre-Rs are compact and formed with a finish usually found on fine furniture. They have a braced and damped MDF cabinet and 2-way tuned bass reflex, accompanied by a 26mm silk dome tweeter with neodymium motor system for natural-sounding audio.
Sensitivity comes in at 86dB/W/m with 15cm treated natural fibre cone woofer, 30mm 4-layer voice coil and long-throw motor.
The speakers aim to be as pleasing to the eye as they are to the ear, boasting bi-wire gold plated binding post connectors and removable magnetic grilles with a choice of fused walnut or satin charcoal lacquer finishes.
Managing director Alan O’Rourke said: “Early in 1984, my father and I were laying the foundations of Ruark and launched our first Sabre loudspeakers to great acclaim in 1985.
“Forty years on, the revival of analogue formats and an ever expanding world of music streaming means it’s the right time for Ruark to return to its roots with the Sabre-R.
“What’s more, our new R610 Music Console allows music lovers to build an entire system that looks every bit as beautiful as it sounds.”
