A crowd-funded head mounted display (HMD) developed by Cinera could bring a 5K OLED display with a Dolby Digital 5.1 headphone.
The Cinera Edge is a dual 2.5K-micro OLED and a Dolby Digital certified headphone with 5.1 channels of surround sound with each of its displays providing 2560x1440 pixels in a two cm area, using the DCI-P3 colour standard used by projection systems used in cinemas.
The HMD, which is currently crowd funding on Kickstarter, features a contrast ration of 500,000:1 alongside a 38 PPD (pixel per degree) ratio and supports native 3D content and 3D Blu-Ray as standard, allowing users to toggle between 2D and 3D-supported content via an on-board 2D/3D toggle button.
The Dolby Digital certified headphone features four drivers on each side to simulate cinematic 5.1 surround sound directly into the user’s ears.
A built-in Android operating system is included to allow users to access content via mobile devices, streaming from providers such as Netflix or HBO through Wi-Fi or to play local content using a USB drive or micro SD card. A touchpad is also included on the HMD to allow users to swipe through streaming menus.
