British Standard for smart home wiring up for review

CEDIA has announced that it has been working with the British Standards Institution on the creation of a British Standard Publicly Available Specification (PAS) for smart home wiring.

The CEDIA-sponsored PAS, entitled ‘Design and Installation of Telecommunications and Broadcast Infrastructure within the Home,’ is now open for public consultation. The organisations previously collaborated to make the CEDIA Smart Home Recommended Wiring Guidelines into a British Standard.

The PAS gives recommendations for the design and installation of domestic wiring infrastructure for the delivery of digital services based upon the requirements of BS EN 50173 and BS EN 50174. It is suitable for use within single residential dwellings and most multiple occupancies homes.

Home technology professionals and trade suppliers are invited by CEDIA to take opportunity to review the document and leave comments and recommendations on the PAS online to ensure it is produced to the highest level possible.

Comments must be submitted through the system before Thursday 1 December, 2016.
