UK distributor Ivory Egg is reopening a dedicated KNX training centre in October 2026, looking to address what it describes as a “skills gap” for integrators and electricians facing increased demand for intelligent building control.
The distributor, which previously delivered certified KNX training for a decade, will provide introductory training through to specialist disciplines at the new centre in Nottingham. These include HVAC and energy management.
It will also offer tailored technical training across application engineering, system integration and commissioning.
The training centre aims to support expertise beyond traditional entertainment technologies, as residential projects encompass lighting, climate control, energy management and other building systems.
The certified KNX Basic course offers an internationally recognised starting point for electricians entering the KNX market, while other courses are intended to support continued professional development for established integrators.
Successful candidates receive a KNX Certificate and can become recognised KNX Partners, with their details eligible for the KNX Association's online Partner database.
Ivory Egg says the training will also be connected to practical project support, allowing delegates to access the company's expertise after completing courses.
Training can even be delivered at company premises, enabling businesses to train several employees together and apply learning to their own projects.
Courses will be led by KNX tutor Amir Abyaneh, who has taught the standard since 2015 and has experience across residential/commercial installations, building services, commissioning and BMS integration.

He said: “KNX can create real opportunities for electricians and integrators, but confidence comes from understanding how to apply it properly.
“My focus is on making complex ideas clear and giving delegates practical knowledge they can use when designing, programming and commissioning real projects.
“The Basic course gives people a recognised foundation, but there is also plenty of scope to keep developing from there.
“Whether someone wants to progress into HVAC, energy management or more specialist application and integration work, we want the training centre to give them a clear route to continue building their skills.”
