CEDIA welcomes hybrid learning for new CIT School

CEDIA’s recently announced Cabling and Infrastructure Technician (CIT) School is now enrolling, targeting entry-level residential integration technicians, people interested in changing careers, and experienced integrators looking to enhance their expertise.

Introducing a new hybrid learning format, the course combines a mix of online and on-site elements to suit different preferences and requirements. The rigorous coursework is available through CEDIA’s online learning platform and at its purpose-built training facilities in the UK and the US.

Designed to teach technicians the foundational knowledge to install cabling and infrastructure to support residential integrated communications and entertainment systems, the CIT School training covers the basics of electricity, jobsite safety, project documentation, tools, cable, and cable properties, as well as the pre-wire and first fix phases of projects.

Registration to the CIT School is now open and the class schedule for the year is as follows:

  • 19-21 April 2021 – CEDIA EMEA Training Centre, St Neots, UK (Hybrid)
  • 10-14 May 2021 – CEDIA EMEA Training Centre, St Neots, UK (Fully in-person)
  • 14-16 July 2021 – CEDIA HQ, Fishers, IN, US (Hybrid)
  • 20-24 September 2021 – CEDIA EMEA Training Centre, St Neots, UK (Fully in-person)
  • 4-6 October 2021 – CEDIA EMEA Training Centre, St Neots, UK (Hybrid)
  • 13-15 October 2021 – CEDIA HQ, Fishers, IN, US (Hybrid)

Technicians who book a hybrid course should allow at least two weeks to complete the online components before the on-site dates.

A voucher for the CEDIA Certified Cabling and Infrastructure Technician Exam is included with the product package. The certification represents competency in a defined set of knowledge and skills, adherence to the CEDIA Certification Code of Conduct, and an ongoing commitment to professional growth. Candidates for certification will submit a separate application to the Certification Commission and can schedule their proctored exam to be taken online, at a Kryterion test centre, or at select CEDIA events.

This summer will see the debut of CEDIA’s Certified Integrated Systems Technician for experienced technicians, which will join its offering of several professional credential on offer.
