A well-known industry face from HDANYWHERE and OneAV, Chris Pinder, is taking on the Marathon des Sables this March with an aim to raise £25,000 to support Together for Cinema.
The challenge is a gruelling 250km multi-stage endurance race in one of the world’s most inhospitable environments, the Sahara, where Pinder will be running a marathon a day for six days.
He is calling upon the industry to back him in this race by helping him reach his target of £25,000 which he will donate to Together for Cinema.
“I’m fundraising for Together for Cinema by taking part in the Marathon des Sables in March,” said Pinder. “Known as ‘the toughest footrace on earth’, I’ll be running the equivalent of six marathons over six days in more than 50°C heat in the Sahara Desert, carrying everything I need on my back.”
Encouraging support from colleagues, partners and even his rivals in business, Pinder continued: “I want to wear as many logos from industry brands (yes, even competitors) as I can fit on my clothing and rucksack to help raise as much money as I can. I really want to help Together for Cinema roll out special cinemas to as many children’s hospices and respite centres as possible.
“I believe that places where children are going to spend some poorly days – possibly even their final days – should be as wonderful and as perfect as we can make them. Whether that’s snuggling down with parents to watch their favourite movie or cheering on their favourite team, thanks to Together for Cinema, thousands of children with life-limiting conditions, plus their families and carers get to enjoy the escapism of an awesome big screen cinema in a safe environment.”
Together for Cinema’s Ian Morrish added: “The challenge that Chris has undertaken is quite simply enormous. To go from an occasional jogger to an extreme marathon athlete in six months is incredible. And, to do all this to support Together for Cinema and help give back to our community is amazing.”
Together for Cinema is currently in the process of becoming a registered charity and is aiming to deliver at least six cinemas this year, which Pinder is playing a huge part in ensuring its success.
The race is taking place from 27 March until 2 April 2022. Those who wish to donate to the cause can do so by clicking on general sponsorship or corporate sponsorship.
