Crestron hosts Superyacht Design Forum sessions

In partnership with integrators Ideaworks and Van Berge Henegouwen, Crestron hosted two education sessions at this week’s Superyacht Design Forum at the Design Centre at Chelsea Harbour, London.

The 2018 edition of this year’s Superyacht Design Forum took place from Tuesday 26 to Wednesday 27 June.

Home automation specialist Crestron hosted over 80 delegates from the marine industry, exploring topics including ‘Technology Trends on the World’s Largest Yacht’ and ‘The Superyacht UI of the Future,’ on each day. Speakers from UK-based Ideaworks and Dutch-based Van Berge Henegouwen shared their respective expertise working on system integration on board some of the most high spec luxury yachts built recently.

‘Technology Trends on the World’s Largest Yacht’

Led by Ideaworks’ Rex Barrett, projects director and Paul Richardson, lighting design principal together with Crestron’s Phillip Pini, head of residential development Europe, the 45-minute session focused on the challenges of creating a bespoke system for superyachts. This was followed by a discussion among professionals on the importance of good project management. “Our wonderful, energetic and engaged participants, made for an amazing, creative session,” commented Rex Barrett at Ideaworks.

‘The Superyacht UI of the Future’

Crestron and Van Berge Henegouwen (VBH) collaborated to host a creative brainstorm which explored the future of user interfaces. The session explored how the increase in mobile devices has affected interaction with the technology around us, answering the question “What exactly will UIs onboard superyachts be like in the near future?”

Reflecting on the two-day event, Hamish Neale, residential sales manager Europe at Crestron, said “The design centre was a hub of excitement over the Superyacht Design Forum two-day event dedicated to superyacht designers. We were proud to partner with Ideaworks and VBH for these events.”
