NIFCO becomes EnOcean Alliance Promoter Member & joins Board of Directors

The EnOcean Alliance has welcomed Japanese innovator, NIFCO as a Promoter Member and added the company to its Board of Directors.

Founded in 1967 for the purpose of manufacturing and selling industrial plastic fasteners, NIFCO’s products have revolutionised the automobile manufacturing process, leading to cars with greater safety, less weight, more comfort and reduced environmental impact. NIFCO is now expanding the use of this technology to spark innovations in home life and appliances, sports and outdoor equipment.

This expansion has led to NIFCO working closely with the EnOcean Alliance and with EnOcean technology, creating innovative new products and services based on energy harvesting wireless technology.

For example, NIFCO Group has collaborated with other companies and is conducting demonstration experiments to develop a business designed to easily monitor elderly people by embedding shoes and canes with NIFCO products equipped with wireless, battery-free sensors.

“NIFCO has been a member of the EnOcean Alliance for over three years now and the company has extensive experience in developing using the EnOcean technology, which enables innovative IoT solutions,” said Graham Martin, chairman and CEO of EnOcean Alliance. “On this basis and with its clear endorsement of the EnOcean wireless standard and one of our key and most active members in Japan, NIFCO is an ideal addition strengthening our Board of Directors.”

Takaaki Nakamura, sales manager for NIFCO and new Alliance Board Member added: “We are proud to strengthen our partnership and look forward to actively shaping the EnOcean Alliance in our new roles. As the only Japanese board member, we want to drive important momentum in our Asia-Pacific region. The growing market of innovative IoT solutions based on maintenance-free EnOcean technology presents excellent opportunities for us.”
