Acer is claiming the world’s smallest 4K UHD laser projector with the launch of the VL7860 at the IFA show in Berlin.
The unit uses laser diode projection technology to create ultraHD 4K (8.3megapixels on screen) and 1,500,000:1 DynamicBlack contrast.
Acer also launched the P8800 4K projector with up to 5,000 lumens of brightness and 1,200,000:1 contrast ratio for larger rooms. Both projectors are HDR-compatible (High Dynamic Range).
The VL7860 is designed for home cinema and offers 120-in 4K UHD (3,840 x 2,160) resolution display with 8.3 megapixel on screen using XPR technology from Texas Instruments and reaches up to 3,000 ANSI lumens.
It supports a colour gamut of 110% of the Rec. 709 colour space and is Rec. 2020 (also known as BT.2020) compatible. It uses the sRGB colour standard and the AcuMotion frame interpolation system.
The projector has two built-in 5W speakers in a compact design and has a lamp life of up to 30,000 hours. It has a 1.6X zoom.
Acer’s P8800 projector is also equipped with TI XPR technology, serving more than 8.3 million on-screen pixels. It also has AcuMotion technology and Rec. 709 and Rec. 2020 capabilities.
The projector can be controlled with Crestron’s Network System which allows LAN-based or multi-user control of the screen. It has a 1.96X motorized zoom, H/V lens shift and a central lens design.
