Barco has launched the third iteration of its flagship Prometheus III laser projector.
Manufactured in the company’s Belgium and Norway facilities, the projector incorporates TI's most recently developed 4K 3-chip DLP chipsets to support 4K2D content at 60 fps and 4K3D at 30 fps. Barco’s Alchemy Integrated Cinema Media Processor (ICMP) and an onboard DCI media server are also on hand to ensure performance matches the content creator’s intentions, according to the company.
Housed in a dark metal casing, Prometheus III provides 11,500 lumens of brightness and a contrast ratio of 4500:1, and comes with a number of lens options.
Connectivity-wise, the projector offers two HDMI inputs to support gaming and media devices.
Attendees to CEDIA 2018 can likely see the performance of Prometheus III first-hand at booth #2127 at the show. This year’s event runs from 6 to 8 September, 2018 at the San Diego Convention Centre, California.
