Bowers & Wilkins grows 800 Series Diamond ’˜Prestige’ line

Bowers & Wilkins has announced that it has added a ‘santos rosewood’ edition to its popular 800 Series Diamond range of loudspeakers.

The ‘Prestige Edition’ version of B&W’s 805 D3 standmounter and 802 D3 floorstander are finished in ‘high-gloss’ rosewood, joining the UK-based manufacturer’s line of black, satin white or rosenut options, to offer greater options to suit clients' home décor.

Performance-wise, it's business as usual and they will offer the same standards as other models in the 800 Series Diamond range, and incorporate B&W’s distinctive matrix cabinet and Diamond dome tweeter.

HiddenWires visited the company’s Worthing facilities last week and saw first-hand the lengthy process of making the special rosewood editions, which takes almost double the time to manufacture over standard Diamond models due to the lacquering process (requiring 13 coats). Look out for the full feature online soon.

The 805 Prestige Edition models are roughly £1,000 (that’s around €1,100/$1,300) higher than standard Diamond models in the range (£5,500), with the 802 Prestige Edition (£19,500) is priced approximately £3,000 (€3,400/$4,000).
