Danish manufacturer Dali has offered a much-anticipated glimpse of the output of its collaboration with Bluesound ahead of its official debut next month at IFA 2017 in Berlin.
Following the announcement that Dali and Bluesound (otherwise known as Lenbrook International) would be joining forces to bring a wireless loudspeaker incorporating BluOS hi-res technology the May, more details have been released by the pair.
Dali’s entry into the multi-room market will be called ‘Callisto’ (breaking the company’s long-standing tradition of starting all product names with a ‘K’) and consists of a pair of Dali-styled standmounts, a pair of floorstanders, and a desktop-sized Sound Hub for connecting to sources. Each speaker will connect wirelessly to the Sound Hub (over a 24-bit/96kHz connection), similarly to Wharfedale Diamond Active A1s.
Bluetooth is also offered as a connection option, with direct options including twin optical, analogue, USB and coaxial inputs. The Sound Hub is rumoured to feature an auto-detect input feature and to be controllable via the supplied Bluetooth remote even when located discreetly in a cabinet.
Futhermore Callisto speakers will be able to connect to any BluOS-compatible device on the same WiFi network for sharing music libraries and playlists.
Its speaker architecture incorporates a 16.5cm wood fibre woofer with a SMC magnet motor system, and a hybrid tweeter consisting of a 29mm soft dome tweeter and ribbon tweeter, with a dual channel 300W Class-D amplifier feeding the drivers.
This year’s IFA show takes place from 1 to 6, September 2017 at Berlin ExpoCenter City in Germany.
