Last week saw Focal present a new milestone collection at High End Show in Munich to celebrate its 40th anniversary.
The ‘40th Collection’ includes five new product ranges across the residential and commercial AV sectors. But taking centre stage at the launch was the Spectral 40th and the Scala 40th, both iconic looking speakers for the home.
The Scala 40th is a high-end loudspeaker similar to the company’s Scala Utopia Evo but with unique black silver finish. The focus on this loudspeaker was to create an ‘extraordinary’ finish, while delivering the same performance as its ‘sister’ Scala Utopia Evo. The Scala 40th is truly limited edition with only four pairs of speakers available to buy. They will be available June 2019.

Another key launch in the ‘40th Collection’ is the Spectral 40th, a high-end, neo-retro acoustic loudspeaker. With this release, Focal wanted to develop a loudspeaker that embodied its heritage while also integrating its modern technological solutions.
The inspiration for the Spectral 40th can from its former iconic loudspeaker models from the 1990s – Spectral 913.1, Futura Antea, Vega.

The three-way loudspeaker is equipped with dynamic, high power handling speaker drivers fitted with Focal’s iconic K2Power sandwich cone, in its trademark yellow colour. The special features and improvements continue with the new choice of acoustic filtering, which uses specific components to extend the frequency range, along with the Powerflow vent system, bringing depth to the bass.
The Spectral 40th is also available in June 2019.
