KEF introduces new in-wall/in-ceiling model for Architectural Speaker range

Extending its Architectural Speaker line, KEF has revealed the new Ci160ES (E=E Series, S=Square) in-wall/in-ceiling speaker.

The new square shaped model complements the entry-level E Series which already features 5.25”, 6.5”, and 8” round in-ceiling speakers.

Performance-wise, the Ci160ES is designed to the same exacting standards as all KEF products, meaning it can be used as part of whole home or multiroom setups with other KEF speaker systems, as well as home cinema rooms, without worrying about tonal compatibility.

A 160mm (6.5”) Uni-Q driver array is used for the new speaker, a KEF technology which places the tweeter precisely at the acoustic centre of the bass/mid-range cone. The single point source design allows the sound to be experience exactly the same from anywhere in the room, eliminating the ‘sweet spot’. This allows speakers to be placed in what would usually be considered as less-than-optimal positions within a room.

The Ci160ES has an IP64 rating, meaning the speaker is dust and splash proof, allowing it to be used anywhere in the house, including bathrooms and kitchens, as well as protected outdoor areas such as under eaves. It also features paintable magnetic grilles and ultra-thin bezel, giving it an ultra-slim profile.

The Ci160ES will be available from October, priced at £250 per pair.
