If you thought OLED was LG’s primary focus when it came to home cinema technology, think again. The Korean manufacturer is preparing to launch its first 4K projector, the HU80KA, next week at CES 2018.
LG continues to seek to be the most-talked about TV manufacturer at CES with the latest sneak peak of offerings at the show, following announcing that it would be showcasing its largest OLED TV yet at the event.
Taking the form of a small rectangular bin, the LG HU80KA may not be the most attractive thing to look at (and it may be arriving to the market 4 years late), but its specs make up for this. LG’s brightest projector to date is around “half the size” of other options out there (note: that’s according to the manufacturer), tackling one of the most common complaints about owning one.
The HU80KA can create a 150-inch screen at 2,500 lumens, and packs in support for HDR video (HDR10), as well two 7W speakers which can be hooked up to external speakers and sound bars via optical, HDMI or Bluetooth.
Steaming can be accessed via LG's onboard webOS 3.5 Smart TV interface, with other content accessible via USB, Ethernet and HDMI ports. It also offers wireless support for a keyboard and mouse if that’s your thing.
Other than being billed as “affordable” (obviously), it’s not yet clear how the HU80KA projector will be priced, but watch this space for more news as and when it comes out of Las Vegas.
