Onkyo announces new AV receiver and two home cinema packages

Onkyo has launched three new products on a continued mission to make home entertainment more immersive and adaptable.

The new products include the THX Select certified 7.2 channel TX-NR696 Network A/V Receiver, the 5.1.2 channel HT-S5915 Home Cinema Package, and the 5.1 channel HT-S3910 Home Cinema Package. The three new products support Dolby Atmos and DTS:X soundtracks.

The TX-NR696 7.2 Channel Network A/V Receiver has many features for home entertainment. It has 3D sound virtualisation technologies from Dolby and DTS, simplified multi-room audio distribution, 4K HDR support, amongst several other functions. The AVR is THX Select certified having met and exceeded 2,000 stringent bench-tests in 75 categories covering 14,000 data points, satisfying THX sound-quality requirements for achieving cinema-reference volume in rooms where the viewing position is about 3.5m from the screen.

It is also able to play Dolby Atmos and DTS:X formats through a 5.2.2 channel setup as well as legacy soundtracks remapped for 3D audio playback through height speakers using Dolby Surround or DTS Neural:X upmixers.

Making the AVR a versatile, multi-service platform, the TX-NR696 integrates Amazon Music, Spotify, TIDAL, Deezer, and TuneIn services which are all sharable around the home via Works with Sonos, Chromecast built-in AirPlay 2, DTS Play-Fi, and FlareConnect.

As well as the TX-NR696, Onkyo has announced two new home cinema packages. The 5.1 channel HT-S3910 Home Cinema Package supports surround sound via 5.1 channel or 3.1.2 channel operations, and includes a 155W/Ch A/V receiver and full-range speaker system including a passive subwoofer.

A step up from the HT-S2910 package is the HT-S5915 package, offering a 5.1.2 channel configuration with 160W/Ch. It ships with two-way front L/R speakers (including Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers), centre speaker, full-range surrounds and a 90W active subwoofer with a 20cm driver.
