Sony launches 77-in ’œA1’ OLED TV ’“ pricing and release details

Sony has announced the launch of its largest OLED TV to date, the XBR-77A1E, incorporating what the manufacturer labels the “world’s first Acoustic Surface sound system.”

You may recall back in April Sony shed some light on the availability and pricing of the 55-in and 65-in OLED TVs from its BRAVIA range of “A1” OLED 4K HDR TVs. Well, the manufacturer’s latest announcement is even bigger (and more costly) than ever.

The Android-powered 77-in model features Acoustic Surface technology unveiled with smaller models in the range (removing the need for speakers to the side or below). It also has Sony’s 4K HDR Processor X1 Extreme for HDR10 and HLG content, with support for Dolby Vision to follow with a firmware update in the near future. Other features include voice search and support for numerous streaming apps.

It offers four HDMI inputs with HDCP 2.2, three USB ports, an optical digital audio input, Chromecast built-in and composite video inputs.

Pre-orders are now being taken for the Sony XBR-77A1E to the tune of $19,999 in the US ahead of an official release on late July – Europe is expected to follow.
