DELA Audio develops S5 network switch for hi-res music streaming

DELA Audio has unveiled a new network switch for music streaming environments.

The Japanese company, formerly known as Melco, combines precision architecture and professional connectivity in its new DELA S5: the switch is optimised for hi-res music playback with control of Link Speed and robust SFP, as well as Neutrik RJ45 options.

Alan Ainslie, manager at UK distributor Audiophile Digital Music Masters (ADMM), said: “It’s amazing what can be achieved when rigorous engineering is applied to components that began life in the IT industry.

“With DELA’s parent company, Buffalo Inc. of Tokyo, bringing its R&D power to audio, the S5 delivers genuine musical benefits.

“It’s an enhancement for any streaming system where sound quality truly matters.”

Building on the success of the flagship DELA S1, the S5 is developed entirely under the DELA brand with Super Clear Dynamic Power Supply and more.

This feature delivers noise-free performance regardless of mains quality.

It’s supported by a 44cm brushed aluminium chassis, CNC-machined corner cheeks and isolation feet for mechanical stability.

The Link Speed feature allows audiophiles to fine-tune network performance from the front panel; slower link speeds can improve sound quality for network players, while higher speeds suit servers such as Roon.

Each port’s status is indicated via colour-coded LEDs, and the entire front panel can be dimmed for distraction-free listening.

Unused ports can be disabled to free processing resources, while connectivity includes seven professional-grade Neutrik RJ45 ports as well as four SFP+ ports.

A USB 5V output provides power for accessories such as Wi-Fi adapters or ADOT fibre isolation units.

Finally, rear-panel indicators confirm network speed/status and can be switched off for optimal sound quality.
