Gira introduces new temperature sensor for KNX Mini Komfort

Gira has added a temperature sensor to the Gira KNX Mini Komfort presence detector, allowing it to respond to thermal motion in addition to light as an energy saving device.

Intuitive by design, the Gira KNX Mini Komfort presence detector not only adjusts light according to how many people are in a room, but it can now also measure the room temperature and adjust system settings to create the most comfortable environment for those in the room.

The new room temperature control sensor measures the temperature and responds to thermal motion so it can adjust the heating, ventilation or air-conditions according to how many people are in the room, saving energy and money.

The device also automatically senses ambient brightness in addition to occupant sin the room, altering ambient light to suit the environment. It will also automatically switch off lights when no movement is detected, preventing lights being left on accidentally. It can also be configured to run specific lighting scenes to fit into the user’s daily routine, as well as open and close blinds when people come in or go out of the room.

Design-conscious, the sensor is subtle and unobtrusive with a height of 1.25mm, which can be flush-mounted offering a low-protrusion, minimal profile. Also available surface-mounted, each ring can be colour coated to match the wall or ceiling.

Despite its small size, the mini presence detector has a large detection range – diameter approximately 12m with 3m installation height – making it ideal for outdoor use as well as indoor. It meets the IP44 standard meaning it is fully waterproof.

Mark Booth, managing director of Gira UK said: “The digital economy has become a quick-change market, constantly developing to meet the needs of the end user. By expanding the Gira KNX Mini Komfort to include a new temperature sensor, we can reduce the number of devices you need in the home to provide one, subtle design solution for controlling light and heat that is unobtrusive and retrofit suitable.”
