LG to intro small floating speaker at CES

LG has announced that a small floating speaker will be amongst its line-up of products showcased at CES 2017.

LG is seemingly not done with the series of ‘firsts’ it will be achieving at this week’s CES, and will be introducing a small floating speaker at the show, in addition to its first laser projector offering for the home.

According to the manufacturer, the PJ9 levitating speaker offers 360-degree sound as part of a ‘turbine blade-inspired design’ and is IPX7 water resistant.

The subwoofer is accompanied by a large base station (housing the necessary electromagnetics) and offers 19 hours of battery life. Reportedly, the speaker slowly floats back onto the base station when battery has run low to recharge for use.

No word on a release for the product yet, but hopefully the having the gravitas of LG behind the product will mean the PJ9 will fare better than previous attempts at bringing a floating speaker to market.

LG will exhibit products including the PJ9 at CES 2017 at booth 11100 in the Central Hall from January 5 to 8 at the Las Vegas Convention Centre.
