NAD launches C 589 CD player with updated digital processing

NAD Electronics has introduced the C 589 CD player, a dedicated source component aimed at delivering high-performance playback from compact disc.

Part of NAD’s Classic Series, the C 589 is positioned as a straightforward but carefully engineered CD player, combining a precision transport mechanism with updated digital processing. At its core is QRONO d2a, a conversion technology developed by MQA Labs, designed to improve timing accuracy and signal reconstruction during digital-to-analogue conversion. The aim is to preserve spatial detail and transient response, areas where CD playback can still differentiate itself when properly implemented.

The player incorporates a dedicated DAC stage tuned for low noise and distortion, alongside a transport and loader system engineered for stable playback across a range of disc conditions, including older or heavily used CDs. For integrators and system designers, NAD has included a full suite of connectivity options, with balanced XLR and RCA analogue outputs complemented by AES/EBU, coaxial and optical digital outputs, allowing the unit to function as either a standalone player or a transport within a wider system.

A front-panel display with CD Text support provides track and artist information, and a supplied remote allows for conventional listening-room control.

The NAD C 589 will be available through authorised retailers globally, with pricing set at €1,599 / £1,199, depending on region.
