CEDIA Expo/Commercial Integrator Expo (CIX) is increasingly highlighting a series of technology-led design trends, according to show organisers.
Four key themes are expected to influence everything from home environments to large-scale commercial projects: wellness, functionality, lighting and tech-enhanced living.
CEDIA Expo/CIX, which attracts more than 15,000 technology professionals each year, is seen as an early indicator of how integrated technology is reshaping design.
“The most exciting trends in home design often manifest first at CEDIA Expo/CIX because that is where technology brands and systems integrators converge,” said Jason McGraw, group vice president and show director.
Wellness is emerging as a core design consideration, with technology extending beyond lighting and furnishings to include air quality monitoring, zoning systems and in-home recovery tools.
Functionality continues to evolve, driven by demand for enterprise-grade networks, cybersecurity and WFH environments.
Lighting remains a major area of innovation, with advances in LED technology enabling both functional and expressive design, indoors and outdoors.
Meanwhile, tech-enhanced living is expanding technology’s footprint across the home, from bathrooms and basements to gardens and garages.
At the show, brands such as Lutron, Crestron, Savant and Josh.ai illustrate how integrated platforms are making these systems intuitive while similar trends are reflected in commercial solutions.
“Smart technology has entered the next phase of adoption,” McGraw added. “Enhanced connectivity and control are now expected in both new builds and retrofits.”
CEDIA Expo/CIX returns to Denver from September 2-4, 2026.
