Freedom by Symphony and NEFF, two names from the kitchen industry, have collaborated to create smart accessible kitchen featuring app-based control, smart speaker and touch free operation.
Freedom by Symphony is a kitchen brand designed to support independent living for people with disabilities as well as multi-generational households, while NEFF manufactures Slide&Hide ovens for accessible kitchens.
As a result of the collaboration, a showcase kitchen has been built in NEFF’s Customer Care Hub, which is located in Northamptonshire, UK. The ground floor 700sqft showroom space includes a fully accessible kitchen, featuring the latest range of accessible FlexDesign features from within NEFF’s Collection appliance range, installed within a sleek and modern Freedom kitchen design.
Safe and easy to use, the showcase kitchen demonstrates NEFF’s Home Connect feature, which allows the oven to be operated using NEFF’s Home Connect app as well as a smart speaker with voice control.

Ovens also come with Flex Control, allowing the appliance to automatically adapt to its user. Ideal for those with limited dexterity or hand strength, users can swipe and tap the display or guide a Twist Pad Flex touch control into place. The N50 oven collection also features traditional dials for those who have difficulty using touchscreens.
Another new feature being introduced by NEFF is the Door Open Assist function on its refrigeration and dishwashers, allowing users to open the doors via the Home Connect app or smart speaker. Not only is this convenient when hands are full, but it also helps those with mobility issues, assisting with independent living.
Home Connect smart technology now features on the majority of NEFF’s range, enabling users to carry out tasks that were once challenging or impossible to perform. For example, a Wi-Fi enabled hob and hood can communicate with each other so that the hood switched on automatically when the connected hob is activated. This allows wheelchair users and those with limited mobility to use a wall-mounted hood without the need to reach up to turn the appliance on and off.

The showcase kitchen also demonstrates the built-in flexibility of the Freedom kitchen with its electric rise and fall worktops, accessible-height oven housings with pull-out heat resistant shelf, iMove pull-down baskets and extendable pull-out table with NEFF’s easy-access Slide&Hide over and Home Connect smart technology.
“Our new showroom space was our opportunity to launch the new over platform – NEFF FlexDesign – to our customers,” said Sue Flowers, group marketing manager for NEFF. “Symphony kindly supported this launch by supplying us with a Freedom kitchen. This is an amazing opportunity for our brands to work together and show that we can partner to help people with specific needs.
“Our ground floor showroom space with its accessible kitchen is a permanent installation and gives us an opportunity to show both our brands side by side. Our goal for this space is the work together with Symphony to share with our audiences how we can make people’s lives at home easier and more independent for those who love to cook.”
