Hitachi want to make 4K HDR TV affordable for those who dream of owning one, but can’t quite budget to paying thousands.
Owning Sony's flagship Bravia or QLED model, or the equivalent 4K model from Panasonic or LG (excluding OLED TVs) will cost you twice, and sometimes three times as much as Hitachi’s most recently launched TV.
Now operated by Turkish TV powerhouse, Vestel, the manufacturer has priced the LCD TV as low as £1,500 in the UK, although its level of performance remains to be seen.
This 4K model comes with a Freeview HD tuner and Freeview Play for accessing local catch-up services, including BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub and All4. The Hitachi’s ‘smarTVue’ platform also provides easy access to apps such as Netflix or YouTube, with connections comprising of three HDMI inputs, two USB ports and an optical output.
All importantly, the TV supports the standard HDR10 format, but there’s not yet word on support for other formats.
