JVC is marking the 20th anniversary of its D-ILA Device development with a new projector line and a red special edition projector: DLA-20LTD.
The company designed its reflective liquid crystal device “D-ILA” (Direct-Drive Image Light Amplifier) for projectors in 1997.
After developing an SXGA (1.3 mega pixel) type in October 1997, JVC developed a 4K resolution D-ILA device in 2000, a 0.7-in full HD device in 2006 and a 0.69-in 4K device in 2016.
This year, to mark the 20th anniversary of D-ILA device, JVC has introduced D-ILA projectors DLA-X9900BE, DLA-X7900B/WE, DLA-X5900B/WE compatible with 4K (3840 × 2160 pixels) to form a new product line-up, set for release in October. A special model DLA-20LTD is also being planned.
The series will incorporate JVC’s proprietary "4K e-shift5” technology which has a new algorithm for 4K content.
Units offer auto switching HDR Picture mode and a gamma adjustment function that can adjust the image according to the viewing environment.
The DLA-X9900BE has a maximum brightness of 2,000 lumens and a native contrast ratio of 160,000:1 (DLA-X9900BE).
Low latency mode reduces the frame delay and can process high bandwidth signals - such as 4K10bit and 12bit - directly without compression. This mode cannot be used at same time with 3D playback or Clear Motion drive.
The projectors support full specification 4K video input compatible with 18Gbps transmission band such as 4K/60p 4:4:4, 4K/60p 4:2:2/36bit, 4K/24p 4:4:4/36bit. They also support HDCP 2.2.
They include two blur reduction technologies: Clear Motion Drive which is compatible up to 4K/60p 4:4:4 video signals, and Motion Enhance. Six axis colour management is installed and the units are compatible with auto calibration function.
