Karma-AV introduces new JBL Synthesis line to UK market

UK distributor, Karma-AV has launched a new range of JBL Synthesis architectural speakers: The Synthesis SCL series and the Conceal Series.

A high-end range of in-wall and in-ceiling speakers, the existing JBL Synthesis SCL Series has brought residential customers high-performance audio since its introduction. Expanding the range, JBL has announced its new flagship SCL-1 LCR, companion SSW-1 subwoofer, SCL-6 and SCL-7 in walls, and SCL-5 and SCL-8 in-ceilings. These new offerings aim to broaden the choice of high output, wide bandwidth design options for premium, high-channel-count immersive audio systems.

Also debuting in the UK alongside the SCL models launch is the JBL Conceal series of invisible speakers. Available in 2-way, 3-way, dual panel and dedicated dual subwoofer configurations, the speakers can be used in combination to bring high-performing audio to a home without the speakers being on show.

JBL Synthesis SCL models

Designed to sit behind a projection screen, the new SCL-1 LCR leverages JBL’s patented D2430K dual 3” diaphragm compression driver mated to a High-Definition Imaging (HDI) horn. The SCL-1 LCR features a pair of newly designed 12” cast frame Carbon Cellulose Composite Cone (C4) woofers in patented Complementary Bass Alignment System (C-BAS) configuration.

To complement the SCL-1 LCR’s acoustic capabilities, JBL has launched it SSW-1 ultra-high-performance subwoofer. Weighing 159kg, the subwoofer offers extraordinary bass dynamics and depth. The SSW-1 Subwoofer features dual high-excursion (4” peak-to-peak) 15” cast-frame woofers with composite cones and 6” voice coils. It can be applied horizontally or vertically in large scale systems.

The new SCL-6 is a 2.5-way quadruple 5.25” in-wall speaker designed for on-axis listening in LCR and surround channel locations. Mounted horizontally or vertically, the speaker features a 1” 2410H-2 compression driver tweeter mated to a JBL patented HDI horn/precision moulded baffle assembly, supported by four 5.25” Advanced Aluminium Matrix cone cast frame woofers.

Featuring a similar horn assembly supported by twin 5.25” woofers, the SCL-7 is a 2-way in-wall speaker designed for off-axis listening from LCR and surround channels.

To complement the in-wall speakers, the SCL-5 and SCL-8 models are designed for off-axis listening as height channels. They deploy HDI horn-coupled tweeters – 1” 2409H compression driver tweeter and 2410H-2 tweeter respectively – supported in turn by 7” and 5.25” AAM woofers.

Conceal Series

For design-conscious customers who want to hide their speakers, JBL has launched the Conceal series of high-performance invisible architectural loudspeakers. Utilising a combination of ‘drive elements’, proprietary FidelityGlass acoustic panels, compression moulded baffles, and dedicated dual-driver bass models, the Conceal series delivers natural sound through plastered walls. Requiring a standard drywall patch installation, the speakers can then be painted over to completely conceal the speakers.

The C62 compact 2-way design, C83 3-way, C86 8” dual panel design, and C82W dual-panel/dual 8” invisible subwoofer make up the Conceal series.
