TP Vision is introducing a host of performance improvements to the already popular OLED807 Ambilight TV series.
The new OLED807 features the latest OLED-EX panel to replace the hydrogen-based compounds within its construction. This means more efficient and stable deuterium to offer an increase in light output of 30% over a standard OLED panel.
It will also include an improved 6th Gen P5 AI processing suite, adding more intelligence to the incorporation of the TV’s light sensor in its AI functionality. This enhanced version of the P5’s Ambient Intelligence monitors the ambient light within the room and will continually adjust the brightness, gamma and colour on the display in real time to ensure that contrast for both SDR and HDR content is always fully optimised.
The 2022 OLED series will also feature a new version of AI Auto Film Mode and extends the number of alternative smart picture modes from the original two to seven when a movie is detected, including Filmmaker Mode. If the TV is already in Filmmaker Mode, it will automatically switch to Dolby Vision Dark settings when detecting Dolby Vision content.
The display’s smart picture modes now also contain Crystal Clear mode, replacing Vivid mode by offering the same crisp images and rich colours but with a more natural balance between sharpness, colour and contrast.
Philips Ambilight TV continues to offer a full range of HDR formats, such as Dolby Vision, HLG, HDR10, HDR10+ and HDR10+ adaptive compatibility.
New for this year is IMAX Enhanced support. IMAX Enhanced movies use IMAX Digital Media Remastering technology (DMR) to reproduce high-quality, sharp 4K images by utilising an advanced algorithm to remove image imperfections and present the film exactly as the filmmaker intended.
The new OLED807 is ultra-thin with a zero-bezel design. It features an outside metal frame to allow a seamless connection the newly improved four-sided Ambilight system, which has increased colour detail and accuracy, to create an immersive viewing experience.
All new OLED807 models, except for the 77” version, features an elegant and narrow metal silver chrome arch T-bar swivel stand. The 77” model has metal, dark chrome round stick feet.
Also designed with gamers in mind, the OLED807 has HDMI 2.1 capability including e-ARC, VRR support for 4K from 40Hz to 120Hz at a full bandwidth of 48Gbps (444, 12 bit), FreeSync Premium and G-SYNC compatibility plus Auto Game and Auto-Low-Latency modes.
A new on-screen Game bar gives users quick access to picture and sound settings via a simplified menu to allow game settings to be checked and adjusted quickly while gaming.
To prevent burn-in, the new TV has Philips TV’s unique anti-burn technology which uses an advanced logo detection function to monitor a grid of zones to accurately detect static content and gradually reduce the intensity of its local light output, without compromising the output of other parts of the screen.
Improving on the sound, the TV features an upgraded and more powerful 70W 2.1 sound system with a dedicated triple ring, near facing bass driver supported by four passive radiators.
The OLED807 is part of the Philips TV & Wireless Home System – powered by bespoke DTS Play-Fi wireless technology. It can be used as part of an app-controlled multiroom audio system with seamless connection between compatible TVs, mobile devices, soundbars and speakers throughout the home.
Connecting a soundbar, additional rear speakers or a subwoofer has been made easier thanks to a new update for 2022 giving users the options for the OLED807 to be used as the dedicated centre-channel in a multi-speaker AV system.
A remote control is included with a silver metalised finish and flush, backlit keys for easy operation in low light levels. Its sides and rear is wrapped in Muirhead leather.
