Chord Company has launched an earthing system to upgrade turntables and other sensitive audio devices.
The UK-based signal protection specialist, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year in 2025, introduces the PhonoARAY – an advanced standalone solution.
This new product grounds devices to the turntable phono stage, or the phono input on amplifiers, to protect the highly sensitive signal.
Its hand-wound, ultra-high-current series filter joins both terminals.
Meanwhile the proprietary ARAY system creates a double ‘virtual earth system’ for both the turntable and phono stage.
This combination shields the sensitive signals from external interference, resulting in cleaner sound reproduction.
The PhonoARAY connections are via two 4mm speaker-style terminals, accepting both 4mm banana and spade connections.
Housed in a machined aluminium billet enclosure, the PhonoARAY connects the earth terminal of the turntable to that of the phono stage (or amplifier phono input) using a 50cm screened earth cable.
The resin filling within the enclosure further reduces microphony, supported by decoupled isolation feet.
The PhonoARAY can be used in a variety of turntable configurations, including turntables with or without built-in phono stages.
In systems with external phono stages, a second PhonoARAY can be added to connect the phono stage earth to the amplifier earth.
