KEF has launched a soundbar specialising in the immersive cinematic sound experience.
The XIO delivers realistic sound using six Uni-Q MX drivers, P185 LF driver with P-Flex, patent-pending Velocity Control Technology (VECO) and the Music Integrity Engine (MIE) for Cinema.
The soundbar supports Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and Sony 360 Reality Audio to transform flat screen monitors into expansive sound experiences.
Powered by a 5.1.2 configuration with 12 class D amplifiers, the XIO offers sound imaging and high-resolution spatial audio experiences in one package.
The MIE for Cinema is KEF's in-house suite of DSP algorithms specifically designed for the XIO; they deliver multichannel processing, virtualisation and adaptive placement capabilities.
The Smooth Connectivity W2 Wireless Platform, adapted from KEF’s renowned LS Wireless Collection, supports major streaming services including Tidal, Amazon Music, Qobuz, Deezer and more.
The built-in calibration tool, Intelligent Placement Technology (IPT), automatically adapts the audio output based on the objects around the soundbar.
Meanwhile, a dedicated Dialogue Mode located within the EQ presets, alongside Night and music modes, enhances vocal frequencies while reducing background noise to make speech more intelligible.
The XIO’s P185 LF driver, enhanced with KEF’s P-Flex technology adapted from the KC62 and KC92 subwoofers, resists acoustic pressure within the cabinet to achieve deeper bass extension.
The VECO sensor built into the LF driver monitors cone motion and employs a negative feedback loop to minimise distortion and compression.
The bass performance of the XIO is equivalent to a 4 x 4-inch low-frequency driver, otherwise known as a woofer, in a minimalist design to blend into existing systems.
The XIO offers HDMI eARC, optical, and RCA subwoofer output for a variety of connection options.
