Sony has introduced two native 4K laser home cinema projectors powered by Bravia XR Processor, optimising Sony’s Bravia TV video processing for projection.
Unifying technologies in a single brand
The Bravia Projector 9 (VPL-XW8100ES) and Bravia Projector 8 (VPL-XW6100ES) are equipped with both XR Processor for Projector and Sony’s laser light source as part of the Bravia home cinema brand, which unifies the Bravia 9, 8 and 7 series TVs and Bravia Theatre audio products.
Gradation in 4K HDR
The new native 4K HDR laser projectors are the first to use the XR Processor in Sony’s home cinema projector line-up, enabling four picture features: XR Dynamic Tone Mapping, XR Deep Black, XR Triluminos Pro and XR Clear Image.
XR Dynamic Tone Mapping analyses peak brightness frame by frame and delivers tone mapping for images rich in gradation and brightness.
XR Deep Black controls laser dimming in dark scenes, maintaining deep blacks and tone expression.
The XR Triluminos Pro feature draws upon XR Clear Image technology to upscale imagery to 4K quality, using a database to recreate lost texture and detail.
Enhanced brightness in compact designs
These projectors are equipped with Sony’s unique Laser light source, boasting 3,400 lumens from the Bravia Projector 9 and 2,700 lumens from the Bravia Projector 8.
The 4K 120fps at a 12ms input lag, plus auto low latency mode via two HDMI 2.1 compatible inputs, provides smooth and responsive movement for gamers.
The Bravia Projector 9 is also equipped with Live Colour Enhancer to display vibrant images in bright environments.
Christopher Mullins, home cinema product manager for Sony Professional Displays and Solutions, said: “We are thrilled to bring these two new Bravia Projectors to the market… With the technology of our Sony Bravia XR Processor now powering our projectors, these enhanced new products demonstrate our continued mission to ensure customers can enjoy the excitement and immersion of a professional-grade cinematic viewing experience from their very own home.”
Reduced environmental impact
In line with Sony’s sustainable home audio, both models are built on a mercury-free laser light source and the XR Deep Black controls laser output frame by frame to improve efficiency.
