IFA 2020 looks at alternative concepts to ensure show goes ahead

To adhere to the Berlin government’s guidelines to ban all events with more than 5,000 people until 24 October 2020, IFA 2020 will not be able to go ahead as usual.

Planned to take place from 4 to 9 September 2020, organisers of IFA, gfu and Messe Berlin have revealed that they have been discussing various alternative concepts.

According to a statement from organisers, planning is well advanced for a concept that will allow IFA to deliver on its core functions for our industry and promises to present the details of its update concept for IFA 2020 in the near future.

Hans-Joachim Kamp, chairman of the supervisory board of gfu Consumer and Home Electronics commented: “We expected this development given the constantly evolving pandemic and appreciate that we have now a clear regulatory framework that enables us, our partner Messe Berlin, and our exhibitors to make detailed plans for IFA 2020.”
