Oppo bolsters 4K Blu-ray players with Dolby Vision

Oppo’s latest firmware update has brought Dolby Vision compatibility to its series of UHD 4K Blu-ray players.

The latest update from Oppo HQ released last week makes its UDP-203 and UDP-205 models the first Blu-ray players to support Dolby Vision. To make use of the feature, users just need to own a compatible TV (from LG, TCL or Vizo) and Dolby Vision Blu-ray content.

Prior to the Dolby Vision upgrade, the each model offered support for HDR10 (High Dynamic Range) and Wide Colour Gamut.

The update can be downloaded directly onto the players connected to the internet or download the firmware file to a USB stick from Oppo’s relevant regional website, or request a firmware CD.

A “major milestone” according to Roland Vlaicu, VP of Dolby Laboratories Consumer Entertainment Group, Oppo has stated it is “thrilled” to be incorporating Dolby Vision into its players.

The upgrade also sees Oppo add sharpness adjustment support for the 4K resolution, in addition to a new colour depth info display on the HDMI in port and enhanced HDMI stability when using an HDMI Split A/V connection.
