Bang & Olufsen unveils new gen of Beosound A9 & Beosound 2 speakers

Bang & Olufsen has today launched the 5th generation of the Beosound A9 and the third generation of the Beosound 2 home speakers, adding futureproof capabilities amongst other features.

Available in new Black Anthracite, Gold Tone, and Natural finishes, the two speakers now join Bang & Olufsen’s range of futureproof products on the Mozart software platform.

“Today, we are celebrating that we are futureproofing two of our most popular home speakers,” said Michael Henriksson, vice president of product marketing at Bang & Olufsen. “Timeless design isn’t just about making products that are built to last, it’s also about creating designs that people will be captivated by, and proud to own, for decades.”

Bang & Olufsen’s Mozart platform revolves around the replaceable module, frontloaded with enough processing power to receive software updates and features for many years to come. If the connectivity and streaming technology ever becomes obsolete, the module can be replaced with the latest version to keep it futureproof.

Beosound A9 5th Generation

Originally launched in 2012, the infamous circular-shaped speaker design, created by Oivind Slaatto, is still one of the most popular products from Bang & Olufsen. Beosound A9 is designed to fill a home space with rich and powerful sound, while blending in with interior styles.

Now launching the 5th generation of Beosound A9, the speaker comes to market with detailed improvements. There are a new set of standard finishes: Black Anthracite, Gold Tone and Natural Aluminium. The back covers of the new standard finishes compliments the front covers seamlessly, as do the oak legs and aluminium hardware finishes, for the best overall design aesthetic to date.

In addition to the new standard finishes of Beosound A9, the product can be fully customisable to compliment any aesthetic.

The speaker is also easy to use with volume controlled by a user sliding their hand across its surface. A simple tap on the A9 allows users to skip, play or pause the music. Adding the Mozart software module to Beosound A9 means that the 5th generation is also built for the future, with better connectivity, compatibility and new capabilities being added.

The Beosound A9 5th Gen is available now with pricing starting at £2,899 / €3,299 / $3,699.

Beosound 2 3rd Generation

The Beosound 2, a powerful multiroom speaker, has always been a staple of Bang & Olufsen’s portfolio. Originally launched in 2016 and now in its 3rd iteration, Beosound 2 has been brought into the new generation of Bang & Olufsen sound.

Crafted from high-grade aluminium, a material now synonymous with Bang & Olufsen, the recognisable cone shape of Beosound 2 is a statement piece for any room.

Like the Beosound A9, one major update to this iteration of Beosound 2 is the introduction of Mozart, ensuring the exterior craftsmanship and software longevity lasts for years and that the speaker seamlessly integrates into any multiroom system.

Black Anthracite is the new finish joining the classic line up of Gold Tone and Natural. The new finish is matched with an improved user interface for ease of use, and the addition of Active Room Compensation, meaning that the speaker can detect its position in any space and distribute sound accordingly to ensure the optimum listening experience.

The Beosound 2 3rd Gen will be available from April with prices starting at £2,649 / €2,999 / $3,199.
