KEF has launched a new wireless hi-fi speaker co-developed with an industrial designer, pairing bass precision with artistic form.
The LS LUXE comes to market as the brand’s first speaker to house its Velocity Control Technology (VECO), which builds on its XIO soundbar debut.
This closed-loop system uses a velocity sensor to monitor the Uni-Q driver in real time, feeding data to a custom amplifier that corrects movement inconsistencies.
KEF says the new wireless speaker, which also offers wired connections including HDMI eARC, analogue, optical, and coaxial, aims to quietly transform the atmosphere of a space.
Housing KEF’s 12th-generation 6.5-inch Uni-Q driver and its Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT), the LS LUXE includes a tweeter positioned at the acoustic centre of the woofer for even sound dispersion.
Additionally, MAT absorbs 99% of unwanted rear sound from the tweeter to minimise distortion, while KEF’s proprietary Music Integrity Engine (MIE) uses DSP algorithms to maintain definition as amplifiers work harder.
Welsh designer Ross Lovegrove, known for his organic and sculptural forms, collaborated on the LS LUXE as part of a long-running partnership with KEF.
Their collaboration has previously been responsible for products including the Muon loudspeaker, Mu headphones and the Muo portable speaker.
Built on the company’s W2 Wireless Platform, the LS LUXE can access streaming services like Tidal, Amazon Music, Qobuz and Deezer from their native apps.
It also offers further environmental personalisation through the KEF Connect App.
