Steinway Lyngdorf launches Model O speaker

At CEDIA, high-end audio manufacturer Steinway & Sons introduced its latest speaker offering, Model O – designed to offer characteristic Steinway performance in a small form factor, without a woofer.

Model O functions as a surround speaker and is sized to offer “an alternative to wall mounted speakers and allow for freedom in placement.”

The Model O borrows design features and materials from Steinway Lyngdorf’s flagship speakers, including the Air Motion Transformer tweeter common to all of the company’s speakers. Its design incorporates four times the active surface area of a standard dome tweeter while still reproducing the small details across all types of material, according to Steinway.

Its 6-in mid-range driver uses a neodymium magnet from the Steinway & Sons Model S series and is paired with an 8-in slave unit for the bass.

The Steinway & Sons Model O was presented alongside Steinway’s newly announced IC-16 in-ceiling speaker and Head Unit processor in a Model LS and IW-66 Atmos theatre running demos throughout CEDIA 2018.
