AI, art and audio: Are lifestyle speakers becoming the next premium category?

Consumer technology startup MorningBlues has prompted the question after its transparent lyric speaker surpassed $1m in Kickstarter funding and earned the platform’s "Project We Love" designation.

Distinguished by a thin glass structure with a visible driver and neodymium magnetic sound system, the SonicGlassA1 combines audio playback with synchronised lyric displays and AI-generated visuals.

According to MorningBlues, the speaker can provide multilingual lyrics, adaptive visual effects, ambient content and home karaoke capabilities.

Kickstarter staff selected the transparent lyric loudspeaker as a standout campaign after it launched last month.

The speaker, which can generate music videos that match the track being played, comes with a companion app tipped to deliver an AI Radio.

The concept is the latest example of decorative technology that could emerge as a premium segment of its own in residential AV.

Additionally, the loudspeaker's optional Music Hub expands the ecosystem with local vocal removal, extended wireless range, and management of multiple Bluetooth speakers.

Whether products like SonicGlass A1 will evolve into a custom installation category remains to be seen - but the campaign suggests significant public interest in technology that combines entertainment with AI-powered personalisation.
